Sebastian is an award-winning photographer based in the United Kingdom, whose work is rooted in documentary storytelling and quiet observation. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, his photography is driven less by spectacle and more by a deep appreciation for everyday moments, subtle gestures, and the beauty often overlooked in ordinary life.
With nearly two decades behind the camera, Sebastian began his career immersed in equestrian sport, becoming the youngest person ever elected to the British Equestrian Writers’ Association. His work from this period gained international recognition and was commissioned by leading organisations including the FEI, The Jockey Club, and Horse & Hound, spanning editorial features, advertising campaigns, books, and major sporting events.
Over time, his focus has shifted away from the demands of competition photography toward a more personal, documentary-led approach. Today, Sebastian is drawn to candid moments and unguarded scenes, capturing life as it unfolds rather than as it is staged. His work celebrates the mundane — the quiet rhythms of daily life, fleeting expressions, and small details that reveal something larger about place, people, and time.
This instinctive, observational style allows him to move seamlessly through documentary projects, whether photographing rural life, street scenes, or long-form personal work. His images are guided by patience and restraint, favouring authenticity over artifice, and narrative over novelty.
Visually, Sebastian’s work is defined by clean, uncluttered compositions, confident use of colour, and a strong affinity for high-contrast black-and-white imagery. Working across both film and digital formats, he prioritises texture, tonal depth, and emotional clarity, resulting in photographs that feel timeless rather than trend-driven.
Today, Sebastian’s work spans documentary, street, and editorial photography, with images regularly featured in international publications. Alongside commissioned work, he continues to explore personal projects driven by curiosity and observation, and always welcomes conversations about new ideas, collaborations, and assignments where thoughtful, story-led photography is valued.
